Married 30 years after getting married
When Karen Topp’s daughter was engaged on July 4th, Topp wanted to wear the dress she wore at the 1984 wedding.
However, when Topp took out the box, she thought it contained the dress, and the dress inside was not her.
“I think when she started talking about wedding planning, if she was wearing something on my wedding, it would be bad,” Topp said of the dress. “It has a elegant neckline, very 80 fluffy sleeves, lace, simple bottom. The veil is absolutely beautiful. I like this headdress.”
Topp said it took a few seconds to realize that the dress was not hers. She said she compared the clothes in the box with her wedding photo album, which confirmed the mistake.
“How did this happen? So, I thought I had a man’s clothes. I want to know if other people have had the same experience as her daughter,” Topp said.
Topp said her family did not remember the dry cleaners that kept the clothes.
Although Topp’s daughter may not want to wear this dress, Topp wants to take at least something from it, even if it is just a bead.
“I really hope Emily has a chance to get something from my past,” Top said of her daughter.
Topp asked anyone to wear a wedding dress in the mid-1980s to check out their boxes at Highland Park or Deerfield Dry Cleaner. She also posted about chaos on Facebook.
